What is Reiki Healing?
The name Reiki, pronounced ''Ray-key'', comes from the Japanese words ''rei'' meaning spirit, and ''ki'' meaning energy. Translated this means ''universal life energy''. As a Reiki Practitioner I work with the energy healing system developed by Mikao Usui.
Reiki healing is the channelling of universal healing energies through my hands to the recipient. It enables the animals own natural resources to deal with illness or injury in the best possible way. Healing can be given for any illness, stress or injury as a therapy.
I simply place my hands on different parts of the body and focus on allowing the reiki to flow. The healing works holistically on the whole animal. Healing physical illnesses or injury, emotional and psychological conditions.
Positive Effects:
Healing is a natural therapy and is complementary to other therapies as well as prescription medicines. There are no side effects because it is completely natural, working in harmony with the animals body.
For Healthy Animals - Reiki enhances relaxation and maintains health and well-being. It also aids sleep and contentment.
For Sick Animals - Reiki may be given for any illness or injury as a safe complement to traditional veterinary care. It can reduce anxiety, pain, depression, and also the side effects of necessary medicine. Reiki can also improve the effectiveness of other therapies.
For Dying Animals - Reiki is a powerful yet gentle way to provide comfort, pain relief and helps to ease the transition into spirit.
Animals enjoy Reiki:
I regularly use reiki on my own animal family and have seen how much they love it. Texas adores reiki just before he goes to bed and within a few minutes will go from lying in sphinx pose to being deeply relaxed with his paws in the air! Morgan is also a big fan and on our walks he has been known to be running about so much he can twist his leg setting off his hip dysplasia. He will hop over to me and ask for reiki. He stands perfectly still while I channel the reiki energy by placing my hands on his leg. Once he has received enough and recovered he will move away and we resume our walk as though nothing has happened.
Healing Methods:
Home Visit: To help the animal feel safe and relaxed I can give the reiki treatment in the comfort of your home, where Reiki healing can be channelled directly to the physical body of an animal. Animals absorb the Universal Energy a lot easier than humans because they are much more in tune with energy than us humans.
Distant: This is also very effective. In a similar way to receiving a distant animal communication I connect with the animal energetically from looking at their photograph and focus on channelling healing energy by holding a space for them. I believe there are great benefits to working with each animal individually. I favour 1-2-1 connection and focus. Drawing on my experience, I find this method much more successful than working with many animals at the same time. Distant reiki is useful method for any animal living far away where a home visit is difficult to organise. It is also beneficial after an emergency and acts as a complimentary therapy to your vet's treatment. Distant healing is also very effective for animals who act fearful or aggressive, where their behaviour may make it hard for them to accept.
